Columbia, Mo. - Daniel Ainsworth has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Ainsworth, a junior keeper from Salt Lake City, Utah, was a solid last line of defense for Columbia in both 1-0 shutout victories over fellow AMC members Park University and Hannibal LaGrange College last week. Ainsworth remained in goal for all 180 minutes of play stopping all nine shots that came his way for the Cougars, who moved to 9-4-2 on the season and 7-2-1 in AMC play with the victories.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Lyon College women's soccer team needed a boost after AMC-leading scorer Anna Waldman (JR/Mendocino, Calif.) went down with an ankle injury nearly two weeks ago. Scot junior forward Isabel Suarez (JR/Phoenix, Ariz.) rose to the occasion in Lyon's only game this past week, scoring three goals and adding an assist as she earned the team's fifth American Midwest Conference Player the Week honor, the league office announced Monday.

Suarez, who entered Saturday's contest against Harris-Stowe State University with only two goals on the season, answered the call with Waldman's absence as she scored three straight goals for the Scots after dishing out her seventh assist of the year in a key 5-1 win over the Hornets. That effort earned her the league's top offensive player of the week honor.
