(LEBANON, Ill., March 25)--The American Midwest Conference has announced its recipients for Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 24.
Molly Reed of McKendree University has bee selected as the AMC Player of the Week, while Valerie Teter of Columbia College is the choice for AMC Pitcher of the Week. Both individuals were recognized for their performance in games played from March 17-23.
Reed, a senior outfielder from Carrollton, Ill., batted .625 with five hits in eight at-bats in leading the Bearcats to a doubleheader sweep of AMC foe Hannibal-LaGrange College. Reed also scored four runs and was a perfect two-for-two on stolen base attempts. One of her hits went for a double, and she also drove in a run. McKendree, ranked No. 25 in the latest NAIA softball poll, is 8-4 overall.
Teter, a freshamn from Bevier, Mo., earned a pair of complete-game victories for the Cougars. Teter pitched Columbia to wins of 3-2 against Culver-Stockton College and 9-1 over AMC opponent Harris-Stowe State University. In her 14 innings of work, Teter allowed just one earned run with nine hits and 19 strikeouts.
AMC Player and Pitcher of the Week selections will continue through the end of the 2008 regular season.
