(LEBANON, Ill., April 21)--A pair of Columbia College standouts have been selected for American Midwest Conference softball honors for April 21.
Lindsey Williams has earned AMC Softball Player of the Week accolades, while Katie McMahon has picked up AMC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday evening by the league office.
Williams, a senior outfielder from Kirksville, Mo., helped the Cougars to six victories in eight games last week. She batted .520 (13-of-25) with 12 runs scored, a double, triple, one home run and six RBI. Williams hit safely in all eight Columbia games last week and also drew four walks. Columbia, the No. 15-ranked team in the NAIA, improved to 29-9 overall and locked up the top seed in this week's AMC Softball Tournament.
McMahon, a senior from Edina, Mo., registered four victories on the mound for the Cougars. Included in McMahon's four wins were AMC victories against Hannibal-LaGrange College and Missouri Baptist University. In 24 innings of work, she allowed just four earned runs (1.17 ERA) with four walks and 32 strikeouts.
