(LEBANON, Ill., May 3)--McKendree University swept its way to the team championships in the inaugural American Midwest Conference Track and Field Meet, which wrapped up Saturday at Leemon Field on the campus of McKendree University.
The Bearcat men's team piled up 272 points, finishing well ahead of the 100 points amassed by runner-up Missouri Baptist University. The McKendree women's squad posted 256 points to finish in front of second-place William Woods University, which had 126 points.
The 2008 AMC Track and Field Coach of the Year awards were also announced at the conclusion of the meet. McKendree head coach Gary White earned the men's honor, while Jamie Moreno from William Woods University took home the women's award.
