(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 21)--The University of Illinois at Springfield is well-represented for American Midwest Conference men's soccer honors for Oct. 20.
Jakub Piotrowski has earned AMC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Chance Walker was the AMC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honoree. The awards were released Monday evening by the league office.
Piotrowski, a senior forward from Harwood Heights, Ill., helped lead the Prairie Stars to victories in their final two AMC matches of the regular season. He netted a goal and had an assist in a 3-0 victory at Harris-Stowe State University. Piotrowski followed that performance by scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0, double-overtime victory at home versus Missouri Baptist University.
For the season, Piotrowski has scored 14 goals and added two assists for 30 total points. He has accounted for more than half of the Prairie Stars' goals in 2008.
Walker, a senior from El Paso, Ill., registered two shutout victories on the week, a 3-0 decision at Harris-Stowe and the 1-0 double-overtime win at home against Missouri Baptist. Walker had three saves against the Hornets, and followed that with an eight-save effort in the Missouri Baptist contest.
Walker, who has played every minute for UIS this season, has a goals-against average of 1.19.
