(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 22)--Philliph Tonui of Hannibal-LaGrange College is the Oct. 20 honoree as the American Midwest Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. The award is selected weekly by the cross country coaches in the league.

Tonui, a freshman from Kericho, Kenya, took second place at the H.W. Wright Classic on Friday, which was hosted by Millikin University. Tonui posted a time of 28:55 over the hilly, eight-kilometer course. He was nipped at the finish line and was one second behind the meet champion. Tonui has been battling a knee injury and led for a majority of the race.

Thanks in part to Tonui's effort, Hannibal-LaGrange College was able to bring home the meet's team championship. The Trojans scored 23 points on the day and were 16 points in front of runner-up Illinois Wesleyan University.

Hannibal-LaGrange College will race at the NAIA Mid-States Classic on Saturday in Winfield, Kan.
