(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 4)--For the third time in 2008, Luana Branco has been chosen as the American Midwest Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The latest honor covers the period from Oct. 27-Nov. 1.

Branco, a senior setter/right-side hitter from Sao Paulo, Brazil, continued her strong play in leading the Cougars to a trio of AMC match victories last week. Branco registered 114 assists to go along with 14 kills, 18 digs and nine blocks for Columbia in their wins against McKendree University, the University of Illinois at Springfield and William Woods University.

Her most all-around effort came in the Cougars' three-set sweep of William Woods. Branco notched five kills, 44 assists and three blocks in the match. She also recorded 42 assists with 11 digs versus UIS.

The Columbia College volleyball team is ranked No. 6 in the NAIA. The Cougars are 35-3 overall and completed a perfect run through AMC regular-season play at 16-0.
