L.J. Watson had eight hits and 10 RBI in the Owls' four-game AMC sweep of Williams Baptist
(LEBANON, Ill., March 30)--L.J. Watson from WIlliam Woods University and Justin Lucas from Hannibal-LaGrange College have been honored by the American Midwest Conference for their play on the baseball diamond for the week of March 23-29.
 
Watson was selected as the AMC Baseball Player of the Week, while Lucas grabbed AMC Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Watson, a sophomore shortstop from O'Fallon, Ill., helped spark the Owls to a four-game AMC sweep on the road against Williams Baptist College. Watson went 8-for-14 in the series for a .571 batting average. Six of his eight hits went for extra bases with four doubles and a pair of home runs. He drove in 10 runs in the four games. In addition, Watson scored eight runds and stole two bases. For the weekend, Watson had a slugging percentage of 1.286.

For the year, Watson is batting .397 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI.

Lucas, a junior from Jacksonville, Mo., tossed a two-hit shutout in the Trojans' 4-0 road win at Harris-Stowe State University. Lucas did not walk a batter and struck out eight as he improved to 3-1 on the season. Lucas' win marked the first shutout by a Hannibal-LaGrange pitcher in 2009.
