(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 4)--Leah Hempelmann of WIlliam Woods University has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week for Oct. 3.

Hempelmann, a senior from Owensville, Mo., took 45th place out of 268 runners at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill. She covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 20:11.

Hempelmann helped lead William Woods to a 12th place finish out of 21 teams in the Maroon Division of the event. This is the first time in 2007 that Hempelmann has been selected for AMC weekly honors.
