(RAPID CITY, S.D., May 15) - The William Woods University women's golf team finished 17th at the 2009 NAIA National Championships.  The tournament was held at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, South Dakota.  The 8th ranked Owls shot an opening round 331, a second round 344, a third round 342, and a final round of 333 (+198).  William Woods competed in its sixth consecutive NAIA National Championship.

Defending NAIA Champions Oklahoma City University won the tournament with rounds of 302, 311, 302, and 313 (+76).  Bethel College (Ind.) finished in second place with a +109.
 
William Woods freshman Jada Bennington (Beloit, Wisc.) finished in 33rd place in her first National Tournament.  Bennington shot rounds of 84, 82, 80, and 77 (+35).
