Men's Golf Completes Day One at Nationals

(SILVIS, Ill., May 19) - The William Woods University men's golf team completed its first round at the 2009 NAIA National Championships at the TPC at John Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.  The Owls are in 29th place after one round.

The Owls shot an opening round 334 (+50).  Oklahoma Christian College leads the field with an opening round 291 (+7).  William Woods is competing in its second consecutive NAIA National Championships.  
 
Freshman J.D. Nash (Dixon, Mo.) and junior Kyle Kovar led the Owls on day one.  Nash and Kovar shot an opening round 81 (+10).  They are in a tie for 110th after one round.  Fernando Gonzales (Oklahoma Christian), Axel Ochoa (Oklahoma Christian), and Ben Smith (Malone) lead the field with an opening round 69 (-2).
