(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 3)--The American Midwest Conference has announced its final two Women's Soccer Player of the Week winners for the 2009 campaign.
Erin Kilian of McKendree University nabbed AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Morgan Read of Hannibal-LaGrange College was recognized as the AMC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Kilian, a sophomore forward from St. Louis, Mo., netted a hat trick in the Bearcats' 6-1 road victory against William Woods University. She helped McKendree finish a perfect 10-0 in AMC play, marking the team's seventh consecutive AMC regular-season championship. The Bearcats also extended their conference regular-season win streak to 42 straigh matches.
McKendree, the No. 10-ranked team in the NAIA, wrapped up its regular season with an overall record of 15-1-2.
Read, a junior goalkeeper from Indianapolis, Ind., stopped 19 of 22 shots faced in leading Hannibal-LaGrange to a split of two league contests last week. She made 16 saves in a 2-1 loss to Missouri Baptist University, but rebounded to post three saves in a 4-1 Trojans' victory at home against William Woods University.
