(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 13)-The American Midwest Conference has released its 2009 Men's Soccer All-Conference team. The honors were announced by the league office following the conclusion of the AMC Men's Soccer Tournament. Voting for the squad was conducted the eight head coaches of league teams.

Kevin Zimmermann of Hannibal-LaGrange College took home top honors as the 2009 AMC Player of the Year. Zimmermann, a senior forward from Cancun, Mexico, notched eight goals with 13 assists up front for the Trojans. Zimmerman, a three-time first-team All-Conference selection, was also the league's Freshman of the Year in 2006.

Earning the AMC Newcomer of the Year award was Ken Searles from Columbia College. Searles, a junior goalkeeper from St. George's, Grenada, had a goals-against average of 0.89 with seven shutouts in leading the Cougars to the AMC regular-season championship. Searles posted a record of 12-3-1 in regular-season play.

The 2009 AMC Freshman of the Year honor was shared by Nikola Velickovic of Columbia College and Dustin Freitag of Hannibal-LaGrange College. Velickovic, a defender from Cacak, Serbia, anchored a Cougar defense that allowed just 16 goals in the regular season. He also added a goal and an assist in his rookie season at Columbia. Freitag, a forward from Frankfurt, Germany, scored a team-high 13 goals along with five assists for the Trojans.

Tim Strange of McKendree University earned his third consecutive AMC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year accolade. Strange guided the Bearcats to a 15-1-2 mark in the regular season with a 6-1 record in the AMC. Strange, who is in his 16th season as the head coach at McKendree, was also picked as the 2009 AMC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

The AMC Fair Play and Sportsmanship Award is also voted upon by the conference coaches. This annual award is presented to the program that exhibits those qualities. The 2009 AMC men's soccer Fair Play and Sportsmanship Award winner is Williams Baptist College.
