Rachel Baker, the 2008-09 AMC Player of the Year, earned her first conference honor of 2009-10
(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 15)--Rachel Baker of William Woods University has been honored as the American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 14. The honor covered games played from Dec. 7-13.

Baker, a junior forward from Mexico, Mo., earned the award based on her play in the Owls' 72-54 victory at home against Baker University. Baker registered a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. In addition, she posted three assists, three blocked shots and four steals in the contest.

The 2008-09 AMC Player and Newcomer of the Year, Baker is averaging a double-double so far in 2009-10. She leads William Woods in scoring at 15.8 points per game and rebounding at 10 caroms per contest. Baker also has a team-leading 39 blocks and 20 steals. The William Woods University women's basketball team is undefeated at 10-0 and ranked No. 22 in the latest NAIA Division I poll.
