(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 15)--Jarvis Walker of Harris-Stowe State University won a close race for American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Dec. 14.
Walker, a junior forward from Chicago, Ill., played a pivotal role in leading the Hornets to a 4-0 record last week. Walker averaged 16.3 points and five rebounds per contest while shooting 59.5 percent in the four games. In addition, Walker dished out 16 assists and had eight steals. He also made 5-of-11 three-point attempts and connected on 83.3 percent of his shots from the free throw line.
In a 74-64 road victory against host Bethel University in the McDonald's Classic on Dec. 11, Walker poured in 25 points. He followed that with an 11-point, four-assist effort against Lindsey Wilson College on his way to All-Tournament honors.
Harris-Stowe is 7-4 on the season, which is just one victory from their win total of last season.
