Rachel Baker narrrowly missed a triple-double in the Owls' AMC win against Missouri Baptist
(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 2)--In one of the closest votes in league history, Rachel Baker of William Woods University was picked as the American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 2. The honor covers games played from Jan. 25-31.

Baker, a junior forward from Mexico, Mo., put up big numbers across the board for the No. 19-ranked Owls. In two games, Baker averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds per game. She hit an amazing 63 percent of hier attempts from the field (17-of-27) and was 10-of-12 from the free throw line (83.3 percent). In addition, Baker distributed 12 assists, had eight steals and posted five blocked shots.

Baker's best performance of the week came in William Woods' 85-70 home victory against Missouri Baptist University. Baker narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing the night with 28 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists. She also contributed five steals and four blocks in the outing. Baker also netted 18 points in the Owls' 68-63 loss to No. 8-ranked Columbia College.

This season, Baker -- who was the 2008-09 AMC Player of the Year -- is leading William Woods by averaging 14.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. She also leads the Owls with 50 steals and 67 blocked shots. William Woods is 18-2 on the year and 6-2 in AMC play.
