(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 23)--For the third time this season, Rachel Oswald of Columbia College has risen above the competition to earn American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Oswald, a senior forward from Boonville, Mo., put her all-around basketball abilities on display in leading the Lady Cougars to a pair of AMC victories last week. Oswald averaged a double-double on the week at 14.5 points and 11 rebounds per contest. She had double figures in points and rebounds in both contests, bringing her season total for double-doubles to 13.
In addition to those numbers, Oswald added five blocks, four steals and two assists. She shot an impressive 68.4 percent from the field (13-of-19) and made 3-of-4 attempts from the free throw line.
Oswald put up 11 points and 11 rebounds in an 83-64 home win over Hannibal-LaGrange College, and followed that with 18 points and 11 more rebounds along with four steals in an 85-53 road victory at Missouri Baptist University.
For the season, Oswald is averaging 14.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest. Columbia is 25-3 overall and leads the AMC standings at 13-1.
