Defending AMC Player of the Year Rachel Baker helped William Woods to the top seed in the AMC Tournament
(LEBANON, Ill., March 8)--William Woods University rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to post a 66-56 victory over Columbia College on Monday in the championship game of the American MIdwest Conference Tournament.

Rachel Baker led the top-seeded Owls with 26 points and 17 rebounds in the come-from-behind victory. Rachel Oswald led No. 2 seed Columbia with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Both players earned All-Conference honors following Monday's contest, with Oswald garnering AMC Player of the Year honors for 2009-10.


With the victory, William Woods earns the AMC's automatic bid to the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship. The 32-team, single-elimination event will be held March 17-23 at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn.

Columbia, which is ranked No. 11 in the final NAIA Division I coaches' poll, along with No. 12-ranked McKendree University, will earn at-large bids to the tournament. The official list of qualifiers and pairings will be announced on Wednesday, March 10 by the NAIA National Office.
