(LEBANON, Ill., March 2)--For the third time in the last four weeks, Brandon Roberson of Missouri Baptist University has been named as the American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Roberson earned the honor for his play during games from Feb. 22-28.
Roberson, a senior guard from Rosharon, Texas, averaged 22 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games last week for the Spartans. Roberson attempted 36 shots in those contests -- hitting 17 for a percentage of .472 -- and was 4-of-9 from three-point range. In addition, Roberson handed out seven assists and picked up five steals.
In Missouri Baptist's 82-81 victory Thursday at home against William Woods University, Roberson lit up the score sheet for 26 points and 14 rebounds, along with five assists and three steals. He added 18 points in a 76-72 loss in the regular-season finale Saturday at Hannibal-LaGrange College.
Roberson enters the AMC Tournament as the league's leading scorer at 19.9 points per game. He also leads the Spartans in rebounding at 6.2 per game. Missouri Baptist is 15-14 overall and holds the No. 3 seed in the AMC Tournament after posting an 8-8 record in conference play.
This was the final week for AMC basketball Player of the Week selection for the 2009-10 season.
