(LEBANON, Ill., March 2)--Ashley Agee of McKendree University has been named as the final recipient of 2009-10 American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors. Agee was recognized for her play in games held between Feb. 22-28.
Agee, a junior guard from Moberly, Mo., saved her best for last in leading the Bearcats to a trio of victories in the final week of regular-season play. In the three games, Agee averaged 23.7 points per game. She scorched the nets for 57.5 percent shooting (23-of-40), including a 60 percent clip from three-point range (9-of-15). Agee was also 16-of-21 at the free throw line (76.2 percent). In addition to her healthy shooting numbers, Agee dished out 12 assists and had three steals.
In all three games, Agee scored better than 20 points. She netted a season-high 27 points in McKendree's 86-71 road victory at Williams Baptist College. She followed with 21 points in the regular-season finale at home against Park University in an 81-75 win that helped McKendree clinch a three-way tie for the AMC regular-season championship. Agee started her strong week with 23 points in a 77-66 victory at home over Lindenwood University.
Agee leads the Bearcats in scoring at 14 points per game. She has hit 43.2 percent of her three-point field goal attempts and is third on the team in assists with 74. McKendree, which is ranked No. 14 in NAIA Division I, has matched a school record for victories in a season with 25. The Bearcats are 25-5 overall and finished AMC play with a 14-2 ledger.
