(LEBANON, Ill., April 6)--The American Midwest Conference has announced the honorees for its Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards For April 5.
Colleen Dailey of William Woods has been selected as the AMC Softball Player of the Week, while Autumn Allen of McKendree University was tabbed as the league's Softball Pitcher of the Week. The duo was recognized for their performances in games played from March 29-April 4.
Dailey, a senior catcher/designated hitter from Ellisville, Mo., batted .588 over a six-game stretch last week with 10 hits in 17 at-bats. Of her 10 hits, Dailey posted a double and two home runs along with eight runs batted in. She also added four walks and six runs scored as the Owls went 5-1 on the week.
In a 9-1 victory over the University of Sioux Falls, Dailey was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI. Dailey slugged 1.000 for the week.
Allen, a sophomore from Fairview Heights, Ill., tossed a pair of shutouts in her only two appearances of the week, both of which came in AMC play. Allen threw a three-hitter in the Bearcats' 7-0 victory at Stephens College. She fanned a season-high 14 batters in the outing. Allen then followed that up with a one-hitter and five strikeouts in McKendree's 8-0 win at Missouri Baptist University.
Allen, who has a record of 10-5 on the year, held opponents to a batting average of .083 for the week.
