(LEBANON, Ill., April 13)--The American Midwest Conference has selected its Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week award winners for April 12.
Tori Long of Columbia College has been picked as the AMC Softball Player of the Week, while Karisa Hendrix of Williams Baptist College grabbed AMC Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades. The duo was honored for their play in games from April 5-11.
Long, a senior shortstop from Cedar Hill, Mo., batted .625 for the week (5-for-8) in helping the Cougars to an AMC doubleheader split with Williams Baptist College. Of her five hits, Long posted a pair of doubles and drove in four runs, all of which came in Columbia's 9-1 win over the Eagles. Long also scored three runs and slugged .875 on the week.
Hendrix, a freshman from Cherokee Village, Ark., held Columbia at bay in leading Williams Baptist to a 4-3 win in the first game of the twinbill between the two schools. Hendrix tossed a complete-game four-hitter, allowing just one earned run in the contest. She walked two batters but struck out 12 to set a new single-game strikeout record for the Eagles.
