Darian Sandford had a big week for the Pirates
(LEBANON, Ill., April 13)--Park University swept its way to the weekly American Midwest Conference baseball honros for April 12.

The Pirates' Darian Sandford took home AMC Baseball Player of the Week recognition, while Matt Lackner grabbed the AMC Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. The Pirates' pair nabbed the accolades based on their play in games from April 5-11.

Sandford, a senior second baseman from St. Louis, Mo., hit a robust .600 for the week with nine hits in 15 at-bats. Sandford had a double, triple and five runs batted in as Park went 3-1 on the week. He also added eight runs scored and was active on the basepaths, stealing 10 bases in 11 tries. Sandford had at least two hits in all four Park games on the week.

Lackner, a senior right-hander from Kansas City, Mo., was dominant in a 10-0 victory over the University of Saint Mary in his only start of the week. Lackner tossed a no-hitter in the contest, allowing just two runners to reach base in the gem. He walked just one batter and fanned nine in the six-inning contest. Lackner's no-hitter was the fourth in Park baseball history, and the third since the Pirates' program was revived in 2000.
