(LEBANON, Ill., April 20)--The American Midwest Conference has announced its weekly recipients for its Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.

Bryant Fernetti of Hannibal-LaGrange College has been named as the AMC Baseball Player of the Week, while Eric Romani of McKendree University is the league's Pitcher of the Week honoree. Both players were key performers for their respective teams from April 12-18.

Fernetti, a senior from LaHarpe, Ill., led the Trojans to victory in all four games last week. He sizzled at the plate, going 8-for-13 for a batting average of .615. Of his eight hits, Fernetti blasted two double and a home run and added nine runs batted in. In three of the four games, Fernetti collected at least two hits. His biggest outing of the week came in a 20-8 win over Ashford University, when Fernetti went 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBI.

In addition to his lofty numbers, Fernetti scored seven runs and drew five walks. He slugged 1.000 for the week.

Romani, a sophomore right-hander from Des Plaines, Ill., earned a win and save in his two mound appearances for the Bearcats. Romani picked up a victory in relief during McKendree's 10-0 home win against Bethel University. He allowed just three hits over three innings of work. Romani then added his save in an 11-2 home victory over AMC foe Williams Baptist College. Romani entered the game with the bases loaded and McKendree leading 5-2 in the top of the sixth inning. He struck out the only batter he faced before the Bearcats erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the frame.

This season, Romani is tied for the McKendree team lead with 13 appearances. He is 2-0 overall with two saves.
