McKendree took the top four slots in the 800-meter run
(LEBANON, Ill., May 1)--McKendree University build a sizable lead after day one and made it stand up to win its third consecutive American Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

The Bearcats registered 224 team points to win the third annual event by 73 points. Missouri Baptist University earned second place with 151 points, while William Woods University took third place with 128 points. The two-day event was held at McKendree's Leemon Field, with several field events being staged at William Woods University on Thursday.

Dewain Meeks of Missouri Baptist University and Devin Williams of McKendree University shared Men's Most Valuable Runner accolades in this weekend's meet. Meeks rolled to victory in the 100- and 200-meter dash events while taking fourth in the 400-meter dash. Meeks established a new meet record in the 200-meter dash at 21.68 seconds. Williams won the 400-meter dash along with the 800-meter run, blistering the course for a meet-record effort of 48.42 secoonds in the 400-meter race.

Anthony Stockton of William Woods University grabbed the Men's Most Valuable Field Athlete honor. Stockton set new meet records in winning the hammer throw (52.80 meters) and shot put (15.73 meters) while taking fifth in the discus.
