(LEBANON, Ill., May 11)-The American Midwest Conference has announced the members of its 2010 Baseball All-Conference team. The recipients were announced at the conclusion of the 2010 AMC Baseball Tournament Tuesday at Clemens Field in Hannibal, Mo.

The 2010 AMC Player of the Year award was given to Matt Holliman of Missouri Baptist University. Holliman, a senior shortstop from Germantown, Tenn., put up some big numbers in leading the Spartans to the AMC regular-season title. Holliman batted .393 with 16 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in during regular-season play. He also scored 64 runs and stole 14 bases on the year. In addition to winning AMC Player of the Year accolades, Holliman was chosen as the 2010 AMC Newcomer Player of the Year.

Missouri Baptist's Sean Woolard was honored as the 2010 AMC Pitcher of the Year. Woolard, a junior right-hander from Parker, Colo., went 7-1 with two saves and a 3.07 earned-run average in 13 appearances this season. In 41 innings of work, he struck out 42 batters while holding opponents to a .195 batting average. Woolard, who was also named the AMC Newcomer Pitcher of the Year, tossed three complete games in 2010.

Jimmy Smelcer of Park University has been named the AMC Freshman Player of the Year for 2010. Smelcer, an infielder from Liberty, Mo., batted .347 in his rookie season with the Pirates' program. Smelcer scored 21 runs and had 18 RBI along with three stolen bases this season at Park. The Pirates returned to the AMC for the 2009-10 academic year following a nine-year absence.

The 2010 AMC Freshman Pitcher of the Year award went to Eric Bruening of Hannibal-LaGrange College. Bruening, from St. Charles, Mo., pitched in eight games for the Trojans and went 4-1 with an ERA of 7.14. Bruening struck out 23 batters in 29 innings of work and tossed one complete game in his first season at Hannibal-LaGrange.

For the fifth time in his 11th season at Missouri Baptist University, Eddie Uschold has been honored as the AMC Coach of the Year. Uschold captured the 2010 honor by leading the Spartans to a 22-2 AMC record and the league's regular-season championship. Heading into this year's AMC Tournament, Uschold has compiled a career record of 423-242-2.
