(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 20)--William Woods University held off Missouri Baptist University to earn the team title at the 2007 American Midwest Conference Men's Cross Country Championship in Edwardsville, Ill.
The Owls finished with 28 points, just four points in front of the Spartans for the overall team championship. McKendree University took third place while Hannibal-LaGrange College rounded out the field.
Vincent Morogah of Missouri Baptist University bested 27 other runners to win the AMC individual crown. Morogah, a senior from Arua, Uganda, covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:40. The top 10 finishers in Friday's race earned AMC All-Conference honors. The 2007 AMC Men's Cross Country All-Conference team is as follows:

The AMC Freshman of the Year for 2007 is Bobby Toppins of Missouri Baptist University, while Brent Almand of WIlliam Woods University earned 2007 AMC Newcomer of the Year honors. Toppins is from Ballwin, Mo., while Almand is a junior from The Woodlands, Texas.
Jamie Moreno was named the 2007 AMC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year for leading William Woods to the conference team championship.
