(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 7)--The American Midwest Conference has selected its first women's soccer Player of the Week honorees for the 2010 campaign.

Ashley Maxwell of Park University has been selected as the AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Morgan Read of Hannibal-LaGrange College has been tabbed as the AMC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Both players were recognized for their performances in matches from Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

Maxwell, a junior forward from Kansas City, Mo., collected a pair of game-winning goals -- both in overtime -- to lead the Pirates to a perfect week. Maxwell netted her first game-winner in the 92nd minute of a 3-2 overtime win at home against MidAmerica Nazarene University. Then, in a 3-2 overtime victory in Parkville against Midland Lutheran College, Maxwell tied the contest with 13 seconds left in regulation, then split two defenders to register the game-winner in the 104th minute.

Read, a junior keeper from Indianapolis, Ind., had a stellar week in goal for the Trojans. She allowed just one goal in 200 minutes of play to help Hannibal-LaGrange post a 1-0 home win over Mount Mercy University and a 1-1 tie -- also at home -- versus Central Methodist University. Read made 14 saves in the two contests.
