(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 30)--McKendree University swept the final American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors of 2007 with Lucy Elliott taking Offensive Player of the Week accolades and Amanda LaGrow earning Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
Elliott, a senior midfielder from Southampton, England, helped lead the Bearcats to a pair of wins last week. She tallied the only goal of the contest in a 1-0 McKendree win at Lindenwood University. The goal was Elliott's fifth of the season to go along with four assists for 14 points.
LaGrow, a junior goalkeeper from Morton, Ill., pushed her record to 3-0 on the season during the Bearcats' 1-0 home win against NCAA Division II member Lewis University. LaGrow made nine saves in the victory and lowered her season goals-against average to 0.69 in the process.
The McKendree University women's soccer team will take a 12-2-2 overall record into NAIA Region V play next week. The Bearcats clinched their fifth consecutive AMC regular-season championship in 2007.
