Sean Rakers shot nearly 63 percent from the field as the Bearcats opened AMC play with two victories
(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 10)--McKendree University's Sean Rakers edged the field to take home American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Jan. 10. Rakers earned the award based on his performance in games played from Jan. 3-9.

Rakers, a junior forward from New Baden, Ill., was a force down low for the Bearcats in a pair of AMC wins last week. Rakers averaged 16 points and 6.5 rebounds as McKendree opened conference play with victories over William Woods University and Hannibal-LaGrange University. He made 62.5 percent of his attempts from the field (15-of-24). In addition, Rakers added two blocks and a pair of assists.

In the Bearcats' 82-49 win at William Woods on Jan. 6, Rakers posted 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds while hitting 7-of-10 shots from the floor. He followed up with 17 points and six rebounds as McKendree notched a 94-62 home win against Hannibal-LaGrange on Jan. 8.

A starter in all 17 games for McKendree this season, Rakers is averaging 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Rakers currently leads the AMC in field goal percentage at .574, while he is second in rebounding.
