2006 Player and Pitcher of the Week Honorees

Lebanon, Ill. – Kyle Christiansen of William Woods University has earned American Midwest Conference Player of the Week honors for April 17. Christiansen, a sophomore shortstop from St. Charles, Mo., batted a robust .556 with 10 hits in 18 at-bats. He collected two doubles, two home runs and 13 runs batted in while leading the Owls to three victories last week. Christiansen also drew four walks in six games. Christiansen posted three hits and seven RBI in the Owls' 29-14 victory at Westminster College, while he hit a home run and drove in two runs in a 5-1 victory against #11-ranked McKendree College. College has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the
Week for April 17. Marcum, a senior right-hander from Centralia, Ill.,
enjoyed a successful homecoming with a three-hit shutout in the Bearcats'
5-0 victory April 14 against William Woods University in Centralia. Marcum
walked just one batter and struck out six to post his fifth consecutive
victory. Now 8-1 on the year, Marcum leads the Bearcats with 64 strikeouts
in 62 innings. He also has a team-high nine complete games. Marcum is
McKendree's all-time leader in victories (35), complete games (34), shutouts
(11), innings pitched (348 2/3) and strikeouts (337). |
