2006 Player and Pitcher of the Week Honorees
Week 6 -- April 24, 2006



Player of the Week - Brian Dinkelman, McKendree College

Lebanon, Ill. –  Brian Dinkelman of McKendree College is the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for April 24. Dinkelman, a senior shortstop from Irvington, Ill., had a record-setting week in leading the Bearcats to three victories in an important AMC series at home against Missouri Baptist University. For the week, Dinkelman batted .522 with 12 hits in 23 at-bats. He collected six doubles, three home runs and five RBI to go along with four walks and a pair of stolen bases. Dinkelman also slugged 1.174 in the six games played by McKendree. On April 19 at Millikin University, Dinkelman became the NAIA's all-time leader in doubles. He now has 92, surpassing the old mark of 87 set by Ryan Howell of Saint Xavier University from 2001-04. In the Bearcats' following game April 21 against Missouri Baptist, Dinkelman set the NAIA career mark for total bases. He pushed his career total to 628, besting the old mark of 613 set by Bob Conlon of Saint Xavier University from 1977-80.

Pitcher of the Week – Chad Johansen, William Woods University

Lebanon, Ill. Chad Johansen of William Woods University has been chosen as the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week for April 24. Johansen, a junior from Cypress, Calif., tossed a two-hitter in the Owls' 8-0 victory on April 22 against Williams Baptist College. Johansen did not walk a batter and struck out six in the complete-game effort.
