2007 Player and Pitcher of the Week Honorees

Lebanon, Ill. – The American Midwest Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 9 is Brandon Patek of Missouri Baptist University. Patek, a junior outfielder from Festus, Mo., put up some impressive numbers in leading the Spartans to four AMC victories last week. Patek batted .400 (10-for-25) with two home runs and nine runs batted in. He also scored seven runs and slugged .760 in the seven games. Patek also had a double and triple among his 10 hits as Missouri Baptist swept conference doubleheaders from William Woods University and Harris-Stowe State University. Entering this week's play, Patek is batting .442 with nine home runs and 34 RBI. Also Nominated: Joe Brooks of Hannibal-LaGrange College, B.J. – For the second consecutive week, Jon Selb of Harris-Stowe State
University has been named the American Midwest Conference Baseball Pitcher
of the Week. Selb, a junior from Woodland Hills, Calif., earned the April 9
award by tossing a three-hitter in a 4-0 Harris-Stowe victory against
Missouri Baptist University. In the complete-game win, Selb walked three
batters and struck out nine. Selb's victory on APril 6 helped the Hornets
grab the lead in the AMC race. |
