Men's Basketball - Mike Strobbe, McKendree College
Mike Strobbe from McKendree College is the Dec. 18 recipient of American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors. Strobbe, a 6-7 senior forward from Ferguson, Mo., averaged 23.5 points and nine rebounds in helping the Bearcats to a split at the Cumberland University Classic. He had 19 points and nine rebounds versus Martin Methodist College, and followed that with a 29-point, nine-rebound performance in a win against host Cumberland University. Mike shot nearly 71 percent from the field (17-of-24) while making all 13 free throw attempts for the week. Strobbe currently leads NAIA Division I in rebounding.

Women's Basketball - Whitney Widaman, Columbia College
Whitney Widaman of Columbia College has been named the American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 18. Widaman, a 5-6 freshman guard from Mexico, Mo., collected 22 points, five rebounds and three steals for the No. 20-ranked Cougars in a 79-67 loss at Oklahoma Baptist University. Widaman was 5-of-9 from the field and 10-of-15 from the free throw line. Columbia is off to a 9-2 start in 2006-07.
