Men's Basketball - Eddie Smith, University of Illinois at Springfield
Eddie Smith from the University of Illinois at Springfield has earned the American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for the fourth time during the 2006-07 season. It is also the second time this year that Smith has received the honor in consecutive weeks. Smith, a 6-2 senior guard from Springfield, Ill., helped the Prairie Stars maintain the top spot in the AMC standings. In a pair of UIS victories, Smith averaged 28 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and four assists per game. He connected on 45 percent of his field goal attempts (15-of-33) and 74 percent of his tries from the free throw line (25-of-34). In a 103-85 home victory against Missouri Baptist University, Smith poured in a season-high 37 points, hitting 10-of-12 shots from the field and 16-of-22 attempts from the free throw line.

Women's Basketball - Emily Hart, McKendree College
Emily Hart from McKendree College has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 12. Hart, a 6-0 senior forward from Columbia, Ill., earned her second AMC weekly honor in 2006-07 by leading the Bearcats to a pair of key AMC wins, including an 81-74 upset at No. 19-ranked Columbia College. Hart averaged 20 points, 7.5 rebounds and two steals for the week. She connected on 62 percent of her field goal attempts (13-of-21) and 78 percent of her tries from the foul line (14-of-18). In the Columbia victory, Hart had 21 points and eight rebounds despite playing just 25 minutes. Hart is third on the Bearcats' all-time scoring and rebounding lists with 1,845 points and 877 rebounds.
