Men's Basketball - Brandon Bishop, Missouri Baptist University
Brandon Bishop from
Missouri Baptist University has been named the American Midwest
Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 8. Bishop, a
5-11 freshman guard from Wright City, Mo., poured in 25 points and added
eight rebounds, three assists and six steals in the Spartans' 101-88
loss against Park University, the No. 14 team in NAIA Division I. Five
of Bishop's nine field goals came from three-point range in the effort.

Women's Basketball - Emily Hart, McKendree College
McKendree College senior Emily
Hart is the Jan. 8 selection as the American Midwest Conference Women's
Basketball Player of the Week. Hart, a 6-0 forward from Columbia, Ill.,
collected a career-high 36 points to go along with 11 rebounds in the
Bearcats' 113-112 home victory on Jan. 5 against Olivet Nazarene
University. Hart also chipped in with three assists as she went 14-of-20
from the field and 8-of-11 from the foul line. It marked the third
consecutive double-double for Hart, and her fifth in six outings. This
effort came one game after Hart grabbed a career-best 19 rebounds in
McKendree's 77-71 overtime victory against then-No. 7 The Master's
College.
