Men's Basketball - Kellen Fernetti, Hannibal-LaGrange College

College standout Kellen Fernetti has been named as the American
Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 24.
Fernetti, a 6-1 senior guard from Nauvoo, Ill., averaged 30.5 points in
two games for the Trojans last week. He hit 19-of-37 shots from the field
(51.4 percent), including 15-of-30 from three-point range (50 percent).
Fernetti poured in 38 points and added eight rebounds, three steals and
two assists in the Trojans' 77-74 upset victory at #11 Union University.
Fernetti was a first-team All-AMC selection in 2003-04.

Women's Basketball - Charliss Ridley, Columbia College
Charliss Ridley of Columbia College has been named the American Midwest
Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 24.
Ridley, a 6-0 forward from Wheaton, Ill., averaged 25.5 points and eight
rebounds per game in helping her team to a 2-0 record on the week. Ridley
shot 59 percent from the floor, including hitting on six-of-10 three-point
field goals. Against Harris-Stowe State College Ridley scored 25 points
and grabbed six rebounds in just 28 minutes of play. This marks the third
time this year that Ridley has won the award.
