Men's Basketball - Chance Smith, Williams Baptist College
Chance Smith of
Williams Baptist College has earned the American Midwest Conference
Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Jan. 23. Smith, a 6-6
sophomore center from Bono, Ark., turned in two stellar efforts for the
Eagles against NAIA-ranked opponents. He averaged 27 points, 9.5
rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game against AMC foes Missouri Baptist
University and Columbia College. Smith posted a double-double with 20
points and 12 rebounds against Missouri Baptist, while he notched a
career-high with 34 points along with seven rebounds versus Columbia.
Smith, the 2004-05 AMC Freshman of the Year, shot 56 percent from the
field and 70 percent from the free throw line.

Women's Basketball - Emily Hart, McKendree College
Emily Hart from McKendree
College has been named the American Midwest Conference Women's
Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 26. Hart, a 5-11 junior forward
from Columbia, Ill., led her team to a perfect 3-0 record on the week.
She averaged 25 points and 9.7 rebounds per game on the week. She led
the Bearcats to a win over Columbia College, scoring 21 points and
grabbing seven rebounds, while ending the Cougars 30-game conference
winning streak. She followed that game with a 30-point game against
Lindenwood University and a 24 point and 13 rebound performance against
Harris-Stowe State University. Hart shot 56-percent from the floor on
the week, going 24-for-43 and hit 27-of-37 free throws.
