Player of the Week - Matt Laur, McKendree College

[Columbia, MO] - Matt Laur, a center for the McKendree College Bearcats, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball for the week of Jan. 15-21. The 6-11 Kinmundy, Ill. native, just a sophomore, joined the 1,000-point club last week in McKendree's 81-80 victory over Brescia University (Ky.). In that contest, Laur notched 27 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocks. In McKendree's next contest, a 75-65 victory over Park University, Laur nearly recorded the first triple-double in Bearcat basketball history, totaling 14 points, 16 rebounds and nine blocks. He also passed out seven assists. 

For the week, Laur led his team to a 3-0 record, netting 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds per outing. Laur also recorded 11 assists, 17 blocks and six steals.

Also nominated: Mark Jones, Columbia College; Mike Hendren, Missouri Baptist College; Josh Buffington, Hannibal-LaGrange College.
