Columba Wins AMC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship

Elsah, Ill. - [Championship Page] The Columbia Cougars won their second straight, American Midwest Conference (AMC) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship, and sixth overall, on Saturday, at Coach Crafton Center in Elsah, Ill.
The Cougars scored an AMC Championship record 247.50 points to beat out Missouri Baptist who claimed 177 points. Williams Woods (148.50), Haskell (55) and Health Sciences and Pharmacy (34) rounded out the top-five team scores.

Championship Notes:
- Donovan Denslow from Missouri Baptist secured co-Athlete of the Meet and Outstanding Track Athlete, after winning the 5000m, 3000m, and 800m. His time of 14:44.97 in the 5K broke his own AMC Championship record of 14:46.43 that he set last year.
- Camden Woolbright from Missouri Baptist was named co-Athlete of the Meet, receiving the award for the second consecutive year. He earned 30 points for the Spartans with a win in the 60m hurdles, third place finishes in long jump and 200m, fourth in 60m, and sixth in high jump.
- Mayson DeRousse from Missouri Baptist was named Outstanding Field Athlete, for the second time (2022) after posting wins in the pole vault, and long jump. He also took home third in the 60m. He shattered the the Conference pole vault record with a winning mark of 5.12m, besting the mark of 4.65m set in 2019 by Missouri Baptist's Adam Vincent.
- Eric Brazille from Haskell Indian Nations won Newcomer of the Year. He won the 60m and placed sixth in the 200m.
- Blaine Brodersen from William Woods won Freshman of the Year. He placed third in 800m and high jump, fourth in the 800m, sixth in the 3000m, and ran on the Owls 4x800 relay team that finished third.
- Six athletes defended 2023 titles in seven events - Missouri Baptist's Donovan Denslow in the 3K and 5K, William Woods' Landon Dunlap in the 1000 and mile, Columbia's Gavin Frantz in the weight throw, Columbia's Jason Parker in the high jump, Missouri Baptist's Camden Woolbright in the 60-hurdles, and Health Sciences and Pharmacy's Jahari Hines in the 200m. MBU's Mayson DRousse reclaimed the pole vault and long jump titles he won in 2022.
- First-year member Haskell found the medal stand in three events (first in the 60m, second in 4x800 relay, and third in 1000m)
