AMC Cross Country Runners of the Week - No. 1 (Sept. 2)

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Mekayla Gibson of William Woods University and Oscar Curry of Columbia College were named American Midwest Conference Runners of the Week, announced the league Monday afternoon.

Both runners are now eligible for NAIA Men's and Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week which is announced on Wednesday.

AMC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

• Only runner outside of No. 1 Saint Mary's top five to record a sub-19-minute time.
• Her 18:41.69 time in the 5k was 12.56 seconds behind the winner, Saint Mary's Reagan Hiebert, who placed sixth in the NAIA National Championships last season.

Other Notable Performance: Mia Duncan, Missouri Baptist: Ran a 5k with a time of 19:22.40 finishing in 21^st place in the Redhawk XC Invitational. She was the highest finisher from an NAIA school at the meet.

AMC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Oscar Curry, Columbia

• He ran the Redhawk Invitational and finished sixth out of 72 runners with a 15:51 in the 5k.

Other Notable Performance: Jenson Starr, William Woods: Competed in the Saint Mary Sundown Showdown and placed 15^th in the 8k with a time of 26:07.28
