2026 AMC Indoor Track & Field Championship Preview
ELSAH, Ill. - The American Midwest Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Coach Crafton Center in Elsah, Ill. Field events begin at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw and high jump, and men's pole vault and long jump. The distance medley relay gets the running events started with the women at 11:45 a.m. and the men at 12:05 p.m.
Participating teams include: Columbia College, Cottey College (women only), Hannibal-LaGrange University, Harris-Stowe State University, Haskell Indian Nations University, and University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy.
Only the top six will score instead of eight.
Women's Notes:
- Five individuals return to defend their 2025 title – Cottey's Madalenn Fee (600m, 1000m and mile), Columbia's Montgomery Keck (triple jump), Hayden Kramer (weight throw), Haskell Indian's Therann Moore (shot put), Health Sciences & Pharmacy's Leah Macon-Ford (60m and 200m).
- Fee was named last year's Athlete of the Meet and Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet after winning the mile, the 1000-meter run and defending her title in the 600m. She also finished fourth in the long jump and on the Comets 4x400 relay team.
- Columbia secured their third title last year, edging out William Woods by 18 points (167-145). All-time Columbia has a Conference-best 74 individuals and relays champion, followed by Hannibal-LaGrange with 37.
- Columbia boasts the highest number of returning athletes, with 17 individuals who scored points at last year's Championship. Cottey brings back six, while Health Sciences & Pharmacy follows closely with five scorers back. Hannibal-LaGrange and Haskell each returning two scorers from the 2025 Championship.

Men's Notes:
- Seven individuals come back to defend their title - Columbia's Bernard Bailey (400m), Kalieb Haileselassie (5000m), Silas Woodbury (high jump) and Brenin Howell (shot put), Haskell's Preston Ironheart (800m) and Dyami Berridge (1000m) and Health Sciences & Pharmacy's Brett Bushue (pole vault).
- Haileselassie was last year's Athlete of the Meet and Outstanding Track Athlete after winning the 5000m, finishing second in the mile and 3000m. He was also a member of the 4x800 team that placed second.
- Columbia, the defending team champion claimed their third consecutive title and seventh overall, defeating William Woods by 100 points (242-142). Columbia holds a Conference-best record with 69 individual and relay championships all-time.
- Columbia returns a Conference-best 20 individuals who scored points for the team at last year's Championship. Health Sciences and Pharmacy bring back three scorers. Haskell Indian Nations, Hannibal-LaGrange and Harris-Stowe each returning two.
- Two AMC athletes and a relay team have achieved NAIA B-Standard this season:
