Women's XC Places 30th at NAIA National Championships

VANCOUVER, Wash. - (Results) The William Woods University women's cross country team competed at the NAIA National Championships this morning. They placed 30th out of 36 teams with 673 points, beating No. 18 Columbia College by 11 points. The course conditions were cold and wet. The Owls averaged a 20:26 race.
Milligan University won the race with a 122 score, averaging a 18:48 5K. Alyssa Bearzi from Milligan won the individual title with an 18:14.9 final time.
Ellie Dimond's 79th place finish goes down as the fifth best place at NAIA National Championships in school history, and her 19:30.1 time is the sixth fastest time at the NAIA National Championships in school history. Harley Nale has the ninth best place at the NAIA National Championships in school history with her 112th place finish, and her 19:42.8 race time is the 11th fastest time at the NAIA National Championships in school history.
The Owls competed today without Alicia Engelbrecht who has been battling an injury over the past few weeks.
Ellie Dimond crossed the finish line first for the Owls. She placed 79th overall with a 19:30.1 time. She averaged 6:17 a mile time. She started out in 138th place after crossing the 1K mark, but she moved up 28 places through the next 2K. She continued to move up over the next two marks, and in the final 1K she bumped herself up 10 places.
Harley Nale came in second for the Owls, placing 112th overall. She finished with a time of 19:42.8. She averaged 6:21 a mile time. She moved up 38 places through the first 4K stretch, but dropped ten places in the final portion to finish out in 112th place.
Mekayla Gibson placed 148th with a 19:55.6 time. She averaged 6:25 a mile time.
Mary Grover placed 255th overall with a time of 20:53.0. She beat her previous PR by 11.7 seconds. She averaged 6:44 a mile time.
Faith Gerling placed 314th with a 22:12.3 time, Kimi Putnam placed 321st place with a 22:24.4 time, and Maddie Mendell placed 334th with a 24:38.2 time.
