Written by Bruna Niederkorn, AMC Assistant Commissioner
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Cottey College Head Athletic Trainer Gracie Travis has been named the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Athletic Trainer of the Year.
The AMC Athletic Trainer of the Year is presented annually to an athletic trainer who has distinguished themselves as a model of the profession of athletic training through exemplary personal conduct and outstanding services to student-athletes.
Travis joined Cottey as head athletic trainer in 2020 and oversees the care and well-being of more than 130 student-athletes. Her responsibilities extend beyond physical health, as she provides support for the mental, emotional, and overall wellness of Cottey's student-athlete population.
In her role, Travis manages student-athlete medical documentation and coordinates healthcare needs with both campus health services and medical providers in the Nevada community. She is known for her commitment to student-athlete care, often supporting students through a wide range of situations, from routine illnesses to more complex medical and mental health concerns.
A dedicated collaborator across campus, Travis serves on several institutional committees, including the Wellness Committee, Insurance Committee, Safety Committee, and Fundraising Committee. She is also a member of the Athletic Executive Committee, where she assists with the scheduling and coordination of athletic facilities for practices, competitions, and special events.
In addition to her athletic training responsibilities, Travis teaches a walking class and is a certified CPR/AED instructor, further contributing to the health and wellness initiatives at Cottey College.
During the spring of 2026, Travis served as the head athletic trainer for the AMC Softball Championship in Branson, Missouri, providing medical coverage and support throughout the conference tournament.
