4 AMC Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Receive CSC Academic All-America Recognition
St. Louis, Mo. - Four American Midwest Conference (AMC) men's soccer players were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Americans on Tuesday. The CSC Academic All-America is the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The four AMC student-athletes, Columbia College defenders Guy Baskerville and Caden McLagan and University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy brothers Grant and Jacob Woodard, earned Second Team Academic All-America honors.
Baskerville, a biology major with a 3.82 grade point average, is repeat Second Team Academic All-American. The graduate senior defender was the captain of the Cougars' defense, which allowed only 0.82 goals per game.
McLagan is a junior marketing major with a 4.0 GPA and was another key player on the Cougars backline that reached the NAIA National Tournament.
Graduate student Grant Woodard maintains a 4.00 GPA as a Pharmacy major who contributed 14 points from his midfield position for the Eutectics. Brother Jacob, a junior forward with a 3.98 GPA in Computer Science, led the Conference in both goals (15) and points (34) this past season.
To be eligible for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and compete in 90 percent of the institution's contests or start at least 66 percent of the contests.
