AMC Men's Soccer Semifinals Recap

St. Louis, Mo. - Defense was the story of the two semifinal matches of the 2024 American Midwest Conference men's soccer semifinals with only one goal scored combined from the two games as the #4-seed Columbia College upset top-seed William Woods 1-0, and Missouri Baptist University tied Williams Baptist University then advanced in penalty kicks (4-2).

Game #5 - (4) Columbia def. (1) William Woods, 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

After a scoreless first 86 minutes, Fabricio Roberti's goal off a corner kick at 86:07 gave Columbia the 1-0 victory over William Woods. Both teams finished with 11 shots, Alejandro Munoz made five saves for the Cougars and Matthew Dworak made six for the Owls.

Game #6 - (2) Missouri Baptist tied (3) Williams Baptist, 0-0 {MBU advances on PKs, 4-2} (BOX SCORE)

Scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods, Missouri Baptist connected on four of its five penalty kicks and goalkeeper Pawel Wolney stopped two Williams Baptist PK shots to advance the Spartans to the AMC Championship match. Wolney made four saves in the game; his counterpart Rodrigo Pina made two stops.

The championship match of the AMC Men's Soccer Tournament is Tuesday, November 12 at Missouri Baptist University. Columbia is looking for their third straight AMC Tournament title, Missouri Baptist is in search of its third Tournament title, first since 2018.
