Missouri Baptist Claims AMC Men's Soccer Championship Title

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - For the first time since 2018, Missouri Baptist University is the American Midwest Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Champion, securing their third-ever title with a 1-0 victory over Columbia College.
Missouri Baptist concludes the conference tournament with a 12-5-4 record while the Cougars end the championship with a 12-4-4.
Throughout the first half, both teams showcased solid defense with neither team able to score, keeping the score at 0-0. The turning point came in the 54th minute when Ognjen Bozovic, assisted by teammate Emilio Hernandez, found the back of the net.
Defensively, the Spartans were impenetrable. Goalkeeper Pawel Wolny made a significant contribution with five saves and a shutout, ably supported by Jack Ridley, who made a critical defensive save that kept the Cougars at bay.
Bruno Saucedo of Columbia took a notable five shots, placing two on target, showing a solid offensive effort. Sergej Misic also played a key role for the Spartans, with two shots including one on goal. Meanwhile, Fabricio Roberti of Columbia struggled to breach the Spartan's defense, with none of his three attempts hitting the target.
With the victory, the Spartans earned an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, with their opening-round matchup to be announced on Saturday, November 16 at 2 p.m. CT. To watch the NAIA selection show, click HERE.
Columbia will await the selection show to determine if they will receive an at large bid to the National Championship Tournament.
