Columbia Secured Back-To-Back-To-Back Men's Indoor T&F Championship Title

ELSAH, Ill. - The Columbia Cougars won their third consecutive American Midwest Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship, and seventh overall, on Saturday, at Coach Crafton Center on the campus of Principia College.
The Cougars scored 242 points to beat out William Woods who claimed 142 points. Missouri Baptist (137), Haskell (42) and Hannibal-LaGrange (36) rounded out the top-five team scores. This win marks the largest margin of victory since 2014, when William Woods earned 203 points to claim first-place, with Missouri Baptist finishing second with 97 points-resulting in a 106-point game between the top-two spots.

Championship Notes:
- Kalieb Redda from Columbia was named Athlete of the Meet and Outstanding Track Athlete after winning the 5000m, finishing second in the mile and 3000m. He was also a member of the 4x800 team that placed second.
- Grant Erisman from Columbia claimed Outstanding Field Athlete after taking home second in long jump and triple jump. He took a sixth-place finish in high jump, followed by an 11th place finish in the 60m hurdles.
- Gavin Mehrhoff from Hannibal-LaGrange was selected Newcomer of the Year. He earned 20 points for the Trojans with a win in 200m, fourth place finish in 60m and 4x400.
- Brett Bushue from Health Sciences & Pharmacy earned Freshman of the Year. He won the pole vault, took second in the high jump and ran on the Eutectics 4x400 relay team that finished sixth.
- William Woods' took first in the 4x800 Meter Relay breaking the AMC Record with a time of 7:50.87. The team comprised of Ian Schwierjohn, Oshawi Burgher, Ethan Wilson and Blaine Brodersen.
- Two athletes successfully defended their 2024 titles in their respective events: Columbia's Bernard Bailey in the 400-meter dash and Brenin Howell in the shot put. Howell's throw of 17.07 meters not only secured his victory but also broke the previous record of 16.82 meters, set in 2014 by AMC Hall of Famer and current William Woods Head Coach Anthony Stockton.
