Columbia Takes Home Eighth AMC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Trophy

ELSAH, Ill. – The Columbia College Cougars captured their eighth overall American Midwest Conference (AMC) Men's Indoor Track & Field trophy and their fourth consecutive.
Columbia totaled a program-record 273 points to secure the trophy. Haskell Indian Nations finished runner-up with 111 points, marking both its highest team score and first-ever second-place finish at the AMC Indoor Championship. Health Sciences & Pharmacy recorded a program-best 75 points, while Harris-Stowe posted a program-high 58 points.
Championship Notes:
- The Athlete of the Meet and Outstanding Field Athlete honors went to Reed Layton of Columbia. He claimed titles in the high jump and long jump, while finishing second in triple jump and 60-meter hurdles.
- Columbia's Kalieb Haileselassie repeated as Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet, winning back-to-back titles in the 5,000-meter run. He also captured gold the mile and the 3,000-meter run.
- Evan McVey (UHSP) earned the Freshman of the Year award. He placed second in the long jump and 60-meter dash, third in the 200-meters, and was a member of the third-place 4x400 relay team.
- Columbia's Garrett Donald was named Newcomer of the Year after winning gold in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and as part of the 4x400 relay team.
- For the third consecutive year, Brenin Howell won shot put and broke the AMC record in the event.
- UHSP's Brett Bushue repeated as a pole vault champion, while Haskell Indian Nation's Dyami Berridge secured back-to-back titles in the 1,000-meter run.
- Columbia's DMR achieved the NAIA "B" Standard and repeated as the 4x400-meter relay champions.
