William Woods Men, MBU's Denslow Take Home AMC Cross Country Conference Titles

Nevada, Mo. - (Championship Page | Full Results ) William Woods Owls took home first place at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Men's Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon. The Owls have now won five championships all-time.
The Owls scored 32 points edge out Columbia (43) and Missouri Baptist (50). This was the tenth closest finish between first and second in AMC Men's Cross Country Championship history.
William Woods was led by Landon Dunlap, who finished third with a time of 26:20.63. Jenson Starr added a top-five finish for the Owls in a time of 26:35.92.
Donovan Denslow of Missouri Baptist won the individual title in a time of 25:14.11, finishing the 8K race 64 seconds ahead of Columbia's Will Cherrington who crossed the line second.
Kalieb Redda of Columbia finished tenth in a time of 26:54.35, which earned him AMC Newcomer of the Year honor.
Freshman of the Year honors went to Blaine Brodersen of William Woods, after he placed sixth (26:40.36).
The William Woods coaching staff of head coach Dan Schwab, and assistants, Austin Bestgen, Jay Bernard and Harley Nale were named AMC Men's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year.
The top-10 finishers earned AMC All-Conference status. Dunlap became the 11th four-time All-Conference runner in Conference history. Denslow is now a three-time All-Conference finisher, with Cherrington, Missouri Baptist's David Fletcher (4th-place) and Starr all repeated as All-Conference runners. Broderson, Redda, Ian Schwierjohn (WWU, 7th), Dylan Carney (CC, 8th) and Oscar Curry (CC, 9th) rounded out the All-Conference finishers.
Additionally, the AMC has announced the members of the AMC Men's Cross Country Academic All-Conference and Champions of Character Teams.
The AMC Champions of Character Team is one representative from each of the participating school who best exemplifies the Five Core Values of the NAIA Champions of Character program (respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and servant leadership).
To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must be in their second semester at their AMC institution, have at least a 3.0 GPA and finish the year on the team. Fall sport freshmen are not eligible for the award in their first season.
